Draw step
Game terms · beginner
The draw step is where the active player draws for turn. The draw is a turn-based action, not a triggered ability.
How it works
- First, the active player draws a card. This is a turn-based action and does not use the stack. [504.1]
- Second, the active player gets priority. [504.2]
Rules notes
- Because the draw does not use the stack, no player can respond to it. The first chance to respond comes after the card is already drawn.
- An effect that says to skip your draw step removes the draw along with the step; an effect that says to draw an additional card adds a draw within the same step.
- "At the beginning of your draw step" triggers are put on the stack after the draw, when the active player would receive priority.
