Hand
Game terms · beginner
A player's hand is the hidden zone holding the cards they have drawn. Its size is capped only at the end of their own turn.
How it works
- The hand holds cards that have been drawn, and other effects can put cards there too. Each player starts by drawing their starting hand size, normally seven. [402.1]
- A player may arrange their hand however they like and look at it at any time. Nobody may look at another player's hand, though anyone may count it. [402.3]
Rules notes
- Maximum hand size is normally seven, but a player may hold any number of cards during the turn. The limit only bites in their cleanup step, where they discard down to it. [402.2]
- Because the cap applies in your own cleanup step, drawing past seven on an opponent's turn costs you nothing.
- Hand size is public information even though the cards are not. [402.3]
