Afflict N punishes an opponent for blocking. It reads "Afflict N."

How it works

• Whenever a creature with afflict becomes blocked, the defending player loses N life.
• This happens regardless of how combat damage is later assigned.

Rules notes

• Afflict's life loss happens just for the creature being blocked, so blocking an afflict creature still costs the defender life.
• The creature's normal combat damage is dealt separately, on top of the afflict life loss.
