Buyback
Keywords · beginner
Buyback lets a spell return to your hand instead of the graveyard. It is an optional additional cost paid as you cast the spell.
How it works
- If you pay the buyback cost as you cast the spell, then as it resolves, you put it into your hand instead of your graveyard.
- This lets you cast the same instant or sorcery again on a later turn, as long as you can keep paying buyback.
Rules notes
- Buyback only applies if the spell resolves. A countered spell still goes to the graveyard.
- Buyback is an additional cost, so it does not change the spell's mana value.
