Celebration
Keywords · beginner
Celebration is an ability word. It has no rules meaning of its own; it marks cards that turn on a bonus once you've put enough new permanents onto the battlefield in a turn.
How it works
- Celebration checks whether two or more nonland permanents entered the battlefield under your control this turn.
- Some celebration abilities are static and simply apply "as long as" that condition holds (a stat boost, double strike, lifelink).
- Others are triggered, checking the condition once "at the beginning of combat on your turn" and only applying if it's true at that moment (pumping and granting menace to a creature, or attaching an Equipment).
Rules notes
- The count is nonland permanents specifically; land drops don't move the counter toward two.
- For the static versions, the bonus can turn on or off mid-turn as permanents enter, since it's continuously checked "as long as" the condition holds.
- For the triggered versions, the check happens once when the trigger goes on the stack or resolves at the start of combat; permanents entering after that point don't retroactively turn the trigger on.
