To create a token means to put a new token permanent onto the battlefield.

How it works

• An effect that says "create" generates a token with the characteristics it describes (a "1/1 white Soldier creature token," a "Treasure token," and so on).
• The token enters the battlefield, so enters-the-battlefield triggers fire for it.

Rules notes

• Creating a token is NOT casting. Token creation does not trigger "whenever you cast" abilities and does not add to storm count.
• Tokens that would leave the battlefield do so, then cease to exist the next time state-based actions are checked.
• A token copy is created with the copiable characteristics of whatever it copies.
