Daybound & Nightbound
Keywords · intermediate
Daybound and nightbound are paired abilities on transforming double-faced cards. They tie a permanent's face to whether it is day or night.
How it works
- The game tracks a day/night state once a daybound or nightbound permanent is around.
- If it is neither day nor night, a daybound permanent entering makes it day.
- It becomes night if the active player cast no spells on their turn, and becomes day again if a player cast at least two spells on their turn.
- Daybound permanents are on their front (day) face; nightbound permanents are on their back (night) face. They transform together when day and night switch.
Rules notes
- A permanent with daybound or nightbound cannot be transformed by other means; only the day/night change flips it.
- Day and night are a game-wide state, not a per-player one.
