How it works

• Defender purely restricts attacking. The creature can still block normally.
• Most walls have defender. They tend to have high toughness and serve as combat speed bumps.

Common interactions

• Removing defender (via Animate Wall, Stalwart Shield-Bearers, Arcades, the Strategist) lets walls attack -- powerful in tribal-walls strategies that pair high toughness with attack-as-toughness effects.
