Descend

Keywords · intermediate

Descend is a family of ability words that care about permanent cards in your graveyard.

How it works

• Descend 4 gives a bonus if there are four or more permanent cards in your graveyard. Descend 8 checks for eight or more.
• Fathomless descent scales an effect with the total number of permanent cards in your graveyard.
• Some cards say "you descend" when a permanent card is put into your graveyard, tracking it for other effects.

Rules notes

• Permanent cards are artifacts, battles, creatures, enchantments, lands, and planeswalkers. Instants and sorceries do not count.
• Descend thresholds are checked when the relevant spell resolves or ability triggers.
