Equip
Keywords · beginner
Equip {cost} -- pay the cost as a sorcery to attach this Equipment to a creature you control.
How it works
- Equip is an activated ability with sorcery-speed timing. You can only equip during your main phase with an empty stack.
- Equipping costs mana (usually). Activating the equip ability moves the Equipment from one creature to another.
- A creature can have any number of Equipment attached.
- If the creature dies or leaves the battlefield, the Equipment stays on the battlefield (unattached). You can equip it to a new creature later -- equipment doesn't fall off and die with the creature.
Common interactions
- Equip vs aura: auras die with their attached creature; equipment stays. Equipment is more resilient.
- Equipment voltron decks pile equipment on the commander to deal commander damage.
- Cost reduction (e.g. Sigarda's Aid, Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist, Puresteel Paladin) makes equip nearly free.
- Sigarda's Aid specifically lets you equip at instant speed -- a powerful trick.
