Escalate

Keywords · intermediate

Escalate appears on modal spells. You normally pick one mode; you may pay the escalate cost for each additional mode you want.

How it works

• A modal spell with escalate lets you choose one mode for free.
• For each extra mode you want, pay the escalate cost once as an additional cost.
• All chosen modes happen when the spell resolves.

Rules notes

• Escalate differs from entwine: entwine is a single cost for all modes, while escalate is paid per extra mode.
• The chosen modes resolve in printed order.
• Escalate does not change the spell's mana value.
