Extort

Keywords · beginner

Extort drains life whenever you cast a spell. It reads "Extort."

How it works

• Whenever you cast a spell, each permanent you control with extort triggers.
• For each trigger, you may pay {W/B} (one white or black mana). If you do, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain that much life.

Rules notes

• Extort triggers on casting any spell, including the extort permanent's own spell as it is cast.
• In multiplayer, extort gains you life equal to the total drained from all opponents, so it scales with table size.
• Multiple extort permanents each trigger separately.
