Fading
Keywords · beginner
Fading N puts a permanent on a timer, similar to vanishing. It reads "Fading N."
How it works
- A permanent with fading N enters the battlefield with N fade counters on it.
- At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a fade counter from it.
- If you cannot remove a fade counter (because there are none left), sacrifice the permanent instead.
Rules notes
- The key difference from vanishing: a fading permanent survives one extra upkeep, because it is sacrificed only when there is no counter to remove.
- A fading permanent with no counters left dies on your next upkeep.
