Flashback

Keywords · beginner

You may cast this card from your graveyard for its flashback cost. Then exile it.

How it works

• Flashback is an alternative cost. You pay the listed flashback cost (which may be different from, and often higher than, the original mana cost) and cast the spell from the graveyard.
• After resolution, the spell is exiled, not returned to the graveyard. So flashback is a one-time-per-game effect.
• Flashback respects normal casting timing -- a flashback sorcery still requires sorcery-speed.

Common interactions

• Self-mill + flashback turns dumped cards into delayed plays.
• Snapcaster Mage grants flashback to instants and sorceries, the world's-best at "extra spell from graveyard."
• Yawgmoth's Will isn't flashback but plays in the same space (lets you cast cards from graveyard until end of turn).
