Heal removes damage that has already been marked on a permanent.

How it works

• To heal damage on a permanent, that permanent's controller removes all marked damage from it.
• If an effect says damage on a permanent "is healed," it's the controller of that permanent who removes the marked damage, not whoever caused the healing.

Rules notes

• Healing removes marked damage; it doesn't grant any lasting protection against future damage.
• Regeneration reminder text commonly describes its damage-removal step as healing the creature, since regenerating removes all damage marked on the permanent as part of its shield effect.
