Impending
Keywords · intermediate
Impending lets you cast a permanent cheaply, but it arrives on a delay before it becomes a creature. It reads "Impending N - [cost]."
How it works
- You may cast a card with impending for its impending cost instead of its mana cost.
- If you do, it enters the battlefield with N time counters on it, and it is not a creature for as long as it has a time counter.
- At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. When the last one is removed, it becomes a creature.
Rules notes
- While it still has time counters, an impending permanent is not a creature, so it cannot attack or block and is safe from creature removal.
- Impending is an alternative cost; the card's mana value is unchanged.
