Improvise

Keywords · beginner

Improvise lets your artifacts help pay for a spell. As you cast a spell with improvise, you may tap untapped artifacts you control.

How it works

• Each artifact you tap for improvise pays for {1} of the spell's generic cost.
• It works like convoke, but with artifacts instead of creatures, and it only pays generic mana.

Rules notes

• Improvise is a cost-payment method, not a triggered ability. Tapping artifacts this way does not by itself trigger anything.
• It does not change the spell's mana value.
• An artifact spell cast using improvise is still cast normally, so artifact-cast triggers still fire.
