To incubate N is to create an artifact token that can later become a creature.

How it works

• Create an Incubator token with N +1/+1 counters on it and the ability "{2}: Transform this artifact."
• An Incubator is a colorless artifact, not a creature, until it transforms.
• When transformed, it becomes a 0/0 colorless Phyrexian artifact creature, kept alive by the +1/+1 counters it already has.

Rules notes

• Incubating creates a token; it is not casting an artifact spell.
• The Incubator token enters as an artifact, so it triggers "whenever an artifact enters" abilities.
