Madness
Keywords · intermediate
Madness turns discarding a card into a chance to cast it. If you discard a card with madness, you may cast it for its madness cost instead.
How it works
- When you discard a card with madness, it goes to exile instead of your graveyard.
- A triggered ability then lets you cast it for its madness cost. If you decline, it is put into your graveyard.
- This works with any discard: a discard for cost, a discard from an effect, or discarding to hand size.
Rules notes
- Casting a card via madness is a normal cast, so cast triggers fire and the spell can be countered.
- The madness cast happens right away, even at instant speed, before the rest of the discarding effect finishes.
