Mayhem
Keywords · intermediate
Mayhem lets you cast or play a card from your graveyard, but only on the turn you discarded it.
How it works
- Mayhem [cost] means you may cast the card from your graveyard for that cost instead of its mana cost, as long as you discarded it earlier this turn.
- Mayhem with no cost listed means you may play the card from your graveyard under that same discarded-this-turn condition.
- Casting a spell for its mayhem cost follows the normal rules for alternative costs.
Rules notes
- Mayhem only unlocks for a card you discarded this turn. A card that reached your graveyard by dying, milling, or being sacrificed does not qualify.
- Timing rules still apply: a sorcery-speed card with mayhem can still only be cast at sorcery speed, not in response to something mid-combat.
