Overload
Keywords · intermediate
Overload is an alternative cost that turns a single-target spell into a sweeping one. You may cast a spell with overload for its overload cost instead of its mana cost.
How it works
- If you cast the spell using its overload cost, you change its text by replacing each instance of the word "target" with "each."
- A spell that would destroy target creature instead affects each creature.
Rules notes
- An overloaded spell has no targets, so it cannot be redirected and is unaffected by hexproof or shroud.
- Overload is an alternative cost; the spell's mana value is still its printed mana cost.
