Search

Keywords · beginner

To search a zone means to look through it for cards matching a description, often your library (a "tutor" effect).

How it works

• When an effect tells you to search your library, you look at all of it and find cards meeting the stated criteria.
• A library search is followed by shuffling the library.

Rules notes

• "Search" is not the same as "draw." A searched card is found and moved as the effect directs (to hand, battlefield, and so on), not drawn.
• If an effect says you "may" search, you can choose to find nothing.
• Searching a hidden zone such as a library means other players cannot see which cards you looked at, only what you reveal.
