Specialize

Keywords · advanced

Specialize is digital-only: it appears on MTG Arena / Alchemy cards from Alchemy Horizons: Baldur's Gate and does not appear in paper Magic.

How it works

• Specialize is printed as "Specialize [cost]" beneath a legendary creature's other abilities, and the cost varies by card: {1} on Lae'zel, Githyanki Warrior, {2} on Klement, Novice Acolyte, Lulu, Forgetful Hollyphant, and Alora, Rogue Companion, and {5} on Rasaad, Monk of Selûne.
• Each card printed with specialize also carries a separate ability of its own, typically an enters-the-battlefield trigger, printed alongside the specialize line.

Rules notes

• None of the printed cards include reminder text spelling out what paying the specialize cost actually does, so this entry covers only what's printed on the card face.
