Splice

Keywords · advanced

Splice lets a card in your hand add its text to another spell. It reads "Splice onto [subtype] [cost]."

How it works

• As you cast a spell of the named subtype (most often Arcane), you may reveal a card with splice from your hand and pay its splice cost.
• The revealed card's instructions are added to that spell. The spliced card stays in your hand; it is not cast.
• You can splice multiple cards onto the same spell.

Rules notes

• The spliced text becomes part of the spell, so the whole package can be countered or copied as one spell.
• Because the spliced card is never cast, "when you cast" triggers do not fire for it.
• Splice does not change the spell's mana value.
