Split Second
Keywords · intermediate
Split second makes a spell nearly impossible to respond to. As long as a spell with split second is on the stack, players can't cast spells or activate abilities that aren't mana abilities.
How it works
- While the split second spell sits on the stack, no one can add anything new to the stack except mana abilities.
- This lets the split second spell resolve without interference.
Rules notes
- Triggered abilities still trigger and go on the stack normally; split second only stops players from casting spells or activating non-mana abilities.
- Special actions and mana abilities are still allowed.
