Storied
Keywords · intermediate
Storied is a static ability that grants you the enduring story designation once your board is legendary or artifact-heavy enough. It was introduced in The Hobbit.
How it works
- Storied means "Any time you control three or more permanents that are artifacts, Sagas, and/or legendary and you don't have an enduring story, you have an enduring story for the rest of the game."
- A single permanent counts once even if it fits several of those categories -- a legendary artifact is one permanent, not two.
- Once you have an enduring story, it lasts for the rest of the game. Dropping back below three qualifying permanents does not take it away.
Rules notes
- Enduring story is a designation, not a counter, an emblem or an object. It has no rules meaning on its own; it is only a marker other cards can check.
- Any number of players may have an enduring story at the same time. It is not exclusive, and gaining one does not take anyone else's away.
- After a player gets an enduring story, continuous effects are reapplied before the game checks trigger conditions, so a card that grows or changes because of the designation is already up to date when triggers are looked for.
- Storied is a static ability, so it never uses the stack and cannot be responded to. There is no window between hitting three permanents and having the designation.
