Tiered
Keywords · beginner
Tiered is a modal ability that lets you choose one mode on a spell, paying that mode's additional cost for a stronger effect.
How it works
- As you cast a tiered spell, choose exactly one of its modes and pay the additional cost associated with that mode.
- Each mode typically has its own name and cost, with higher-cost modes producing a bigger effect from the same spell.
Rules notes
- Tiered costs are additional costs on top of the spell's mana cost, not a replacement for it.
- Unlike spree, a tiered spell lets you choose only one mode, never more than one.
