Untap

Keywords · beginner

To untap a permanent means to return it to its upright, ready position.

How it works

• Each turn, the active player untaps their permanents during the untap step.
• Effects can also untap permanents at other times, letting you reuse a creature or a land that has already been tapped.

Rules notes

• Untapping a creature does not remove summoning sickness; a creature still needs to have been under your control since your most recent turn began to attack.
• "Doesn't untap during its controller's untap step" effects keep a permanent tapped, but other untap effects can still untap it.
