Will of the Planeswalkers
Keywords · intermediate
Will of the planeswalkers is an ability word. It has no rules meaning of its own; every printed example uses it for the same public vote, attached as a second effect on a sorcery that already does something else.
How it works
- Starting with you, each player votes for planeswalk or chaos.
- If planeswalk gets more votes, planeswalk happens. If chaos gets more votes, or the vote is tied, chaos ensues instead.
- Every printed example pairs this vote with a separate primary effect on the same sorcery: creating tokens, drawing cards, reanimating a creature from a graveyard, converting a discarded hand into mana and cards, or searching for basic lands.
Rules notes
- Unlike will of the council, where the two named options differ from card to card, every printed will of the planeswalkers card votes on the identical pair: planeswalk or chaos.
- The tie always favors chaos in the printed text.
- This is a distinct ability word from will of the council (public vote, card-specific options) and secret council (hidden vote, revealed together). See the wiki's vote entry for the general rules on how a vote works.
