Resilience & fragility
More to explore · intermediate
Where an engine lives decides how easily it dies. Resilience weights a deck's engine value by how hard each card's home is to remove, and reports a 0-100 score plus a fragile % — the share of engine value sitting on the easiest-to-kill homes.
The removal-difficulty ladder
Easiest to hardest to remove in Commander:
| Home | Weight |
|---|---|
| Planeswalker | 0.20 |
| Creature | 0.30 |
| Artifact | 0.55 |
| Battle | 0.60 |
| Enchantment | 0.70 |
| Non-basic land | 0.85 |
| Basic land | 0.95 |
An artifact creature reads as a Creature (it dies to creature removal too — the easier home wins). The score also takes a small bonus for recursion and a small penalty for a high average engine mana value (a slow engine is fragile in practice).
Fragile %
fragilePct is the percentage of engine value sitting on creature or planeswalker homes. A high value is wrath-fragility: one board wipe resets the deck.
Recursion
Recursion sources (returning cards from the graveyard or exile) turn a wrath from a reset into a speed bump. A fragile deck with no recursion is the most wrath-vulnerable shape there is.
How to use it
If fragilePct is high, that is the headline vulnerability. The fix is to move equivalent value onto a harder-to-remove home — a doubler or draw engine printed as an enchantment or artifact instead of a creature hardens the same throughput — and/or to add recursion.
